Work Experience

BMW Manufacturing

My most recent work experience was at BMW manufacturing in Greer, South Carolina. I worked in the quality department for vehicle dynamics and driver assistance systems. I went on test drives with my team and reviewed electronic control unit data to determine what controllers and signals were causing vehicle issues. I would help detect in line problems using a data software called Splunk to prevent cars from being manufactured incorrectly. My biggest accomplishment while at BMW was using my python skills to automatically link vehicle test drive data to a power BI dashboard. This allowed certain data points to be compared between test drives on a time basis so that consistent errors could be spotted easier. I will be returning to BMW for Spring 2022 for another internship semester.

Helix Electric

I worked as a project engineer on 3 separate construction sites during the 2020 spring and fall semesters. Most of my work was done on site at Silvery Towers in downtown San Jose, California. During my time at Helix, I had a fantastic relationship with my manager that was built on trust and quality work. This allowed me to take on much more serious work than most interns. On site, I was drafting change orders and negotiating change order prices with the general contractor. I led a team of about 7 electricians where I directed the sequence of tasks, gathered dimensions, assisted them with their work (like pulling wire), and answered questions based on the construction drawings and RFIs. I pride myself in being a relationship builder, so I strived to earn the respect of the electricians on site and managers in the office.

Meador Supply

My first internship was in a small machine shop working as a manufacturing engineering intern during the summer of 2019. At Meador Supply, I tracked machining sequence changes and updated the order sheets for each part that was manufactured to help with the company audit. I created inspection reports for parts that the machine operators could use to ensure part quality, and I was able to machine some customer parts when we were short staffed. My favorite project that I got to work on was designing a new work holding piece for the 3 axis CNC mill. I was tasked with improving the original part, modeling it in Fusion 360, and manufacturing it myself. The part was a success and safely implemented before ending my internship.
